April Angermeier (she/they)
Partner
April brings nearly twenty years of experience in operations and strategy, primarily in the public and nonprofit sectors, as Partner at Collective Futures.
April, a queer, nonconforming person who came out later in life after growing up in Southern Indiana with race and class privilege, has dedicated much of her adult life dismantling her own white dominant ideals. Through continual education, reflection, introspection, and evolution, she has committed herself to unlearning these ingrained perspectives. April is passionate about building community and connections for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults and centering the voices and experiences of the most marginalized people in society.
April became interested in the public sector during her time as an AmeriCorps member. She started her career in state government where she designed and implemented a large grant program focused on providing behavioral health support through grassroots and community-based agencies in 11 counties throughout the state of Indiana. Most recently, April spent over a decade working as a consultant and Vice President of Operations with Community Solutions, a nonprofit and public consulting firm focused on public health, community/organizational development and criminal justice. Additionally, April built the training team for a national nonprofit focused on bail reform, helped start employer-based health clinics across the state, and spent over 8 years helping to establish and serving on the board of directors for Trinity Haven, a nonprofit focused on housing for LGBTQIA+ young adults. She attended Indiana University and holds an undergrad degree in psychology and a graduate degree in public affairs, with a concentration in nonprofit management.
April believes that her identity and diverse experience will provide the perspective needed to support agencies interested in designing and implementing responsive initiatives that center the people they are intended to benefit.
April wants to focus on compassion, community, and care in her work and in her life. Outside of work, she focuses on engaging in and creating spaces for queer people to be in community. She spends her free time playing recreational sports, doing mindfulness activities, spending time in nature, and exploring new places. April lives in downtown Indy with her scruffy terrier, Archie, and her elusive and sometimes snuggly cat, Juno.
